The Decatur Township Fire Department (DTFD) is proud to partner with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute in an effort to increase child passenger safety. It is the goal of the DTFD to assure that every child is properly restrained in the appropriate safety seat based on their age, height, and weight. The DTFD will provide an inspection of your safety seat free of charge.

  • Inspections are performed by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST).
  •  The DTFD accepts Project Love vouchers for referrals from local law enforcement.

Thank you for your interest in the Decatur Township Car Seat Program. Please fill out online form completely. Once submitted, a representative will contact you to schedule an appointment. If you are unsure of where to look for an inspection station located near you, click on the link below.   Inspections are performed by appointment only; you may be placed on a waiting list if no appointments are available.  If you miss your appointment, you will be placed at the bottom of the list.

  • Child must be present at time of appointment, unless you are expecting.
  • If your due date is greater than 1 month from current date, please submit request closer to your due date.
  • You MUST receive government assistance, please bring documentation with you at the time of your appointment.  
  • Please contact fire department representative if you need to reschedule your appointment. If your scheduled appointment is missed, your request will move to the bottom of the request list.
  • There is only 1(one) seat per lifetime of the child.
